This report is the third edition in our What the Green Groups Said research series, which aims to ‘take the pulse’ of the UK environment sector.
The report summarises findings from a survey of UK environment group leaders, completed in autumn 2021, which received responses from 116 organisations large and small. The findings provide insight into these organisations’ priorities, strategies and successes, and act as a source of collective intelligence on what their leaders perceive to be the sector’s key challenges, opportunities and funding gaps.
The publication of this research comes at a time when strong action on the environment is urgently needed. The results of past surveys in this series have helped environmental organisations refine their strategies or expand into new areas, as well as supporting donors to environmental causes to target their funding more effectively and productively.
This research into the ‘demand’ side of the funding market complements EFN’s Where the Green Grants Went publication series, which documents the ‘supply’ of funding from UK-based foundations and lottery sources for environmental work.
