Following on from the session held at EFN’s retreat this May, we were keen to convene interested funders around the current state of UK environmental politics. In this session we explored:
- How funders engage in “small p” politics
- Where and how we be more political
- Which upcoming policies, projects and actions hold hope for securing environmental action
In this session we began with an overview of the opportunities for environmental change within the current parliament, followed by insight from ECF on how they approach political engagement as a funder. Finally we took stock of the challenges funders face with political engagement, seeking to collectively shape what future convenings and learning sessions could look like on this topic.
To help us frame the discussions we heard from Amy Mount (UK Director) at ECF, as well as, Blanche Shackleton (Deputy Executive Director) and Sarah Williams (Deputy Director of Strategic Partnerships) from Green Alliance in this first session.
