EFN first hosted an event on carbon removals back in 2020 and a lot has changed since then – new technologies, new standards and policies, and even more scientific clarity on the need for them to achieve a net zero future. 

But removals are still controversial. Some fear they will distract attention from the core task of reducing emissions; others worry they will divert money that could go into conserving existing natural sinks; and others still think it’s all part of an oil & gas plan to stick with business as usual.

In this session, we cover how the carbon removals sector has evolved in the last four years. Leading experts took us through the science behind the solution, show what is happening on the ground, and how this market is evolving.
