The rise of anti-climate discourse in UK politics leaves the climate and environmental movement with a series of deep and strategic challenges.
In this session, we discussed the following questions:
- How do we regain our energy and ambition now climate-progress has lost its cross-party support? Is it a priority to win back cross-party approval?
- Populist movements across the world have taken anti-climate positions, do we as a sector need to redefine our activities and actions to become more populist?
- Is consensus at a political level rebuilt by strengthening and deepening public approval for climate-action (which sits at roughly 63%)?
- How can the updated segmentation of Britain Talks Climate help us understand those disenfranchised by climate action?
Speakers included:
- Rachael Orr, Climate Outreach
- Tessa Khan, Uplift
- Mike Robinson, Stop Climate Chaos Scotland
