Earth Raise
Earth Raise is the UK’s largest environmental match funding campaign. Previously named the Green Match Fund, Earth Raise is a seven-day online match funding campaign dedicated to helping charities playing a vital role in tackling pressing environmental issues, run in partnership with the Big Give. Since its launch in 2021, the Green Match Fund has raised over £23 million.
In 2025, the campaign raised a record-breaking £8.1 million, supporting a total of 307 environmental organisations. Funds are strategically directed to charities delivering a positive environmental impact – from combating climate change and reducing waste, to protecting wildlife and promoting sustainability. The campaign supports organisations making a tangible difference in the UK and worldwide.
Earth Raise brings together major donors like philanthropists, foundations and businesses, who provide match funding in advance of the campaign. This pot of match funding incentivises donations from the public during the week of the campaign in April, where everyone’s donations gets doubled. For example, for every £10 a funder provides, that £10 is then matched by a public donation, meaning the charity receives £20. The campaign always takes place around World Earth Day on 22 April.
Joining Earth Raise
Each year environmental charities need to apply for the upcoming Earth Raise campaign. You can do this easily via the Big Give’s website. Both EFN and Big Give announce when applications open via their newsletters and social media channels. Make sure you sign up to the Green Fundraisers Forum to get announcements from us. Applications are now open for Earth Raise 2026 and close on 16 January 2026.
Supporting Earth Raise & Earth Raise Live
As part of its rebrand, Earth Raise Live has also launched, bringing fresh energy to environmental giving.
Earth Raise Live will be launched on World Earth Day 2026 and will be a landmark cultural event blending live music, art, and environmental activism. The first of its kind in the UK, Earth Raise Live will unite artists, comedians, musicians and environmental leaders to inspire millions and raise millions for frontline environmental charities through a turbocharged match funding campaign, becoming the annual, defining moment for environmental fundraising. Big Give is calling on brand champions, sponsors, philanthropic supporters and media partners to help bring Earth Raise Live to life.
Philanthropic supporters are also invited to provide match funding for the charities working to protect and preserve our planet, incentivising the public to donate.
