Did you know that an astonishing 94% of the UK’s endemic species live in the UKOTs? And together they form the fifth largest marine estate in the world? These unique areas are seriously at risk with almost half the endemic species considered threatened to varying degrees and several already extinct. Being mostly island nations they are also extremely vulnerable to climate change. Yet, they receive a tiny 0.03% of UK foundation funding.

In our first event in the UKOTs Learning Series, you will learn about the breathtaking beauty, remarkable diversity, and rich ecological wealth of the UKOTs. Speakers include:

  • Hugh Raven, Founder & Chair, Open Seas and Former Chair, John Ellerman Foundation & EFN
  • Helena Bennett, Director, St Helena National Trust
  • Sarita Francis, Executive Director, Montserrat National Trust
