2024 will be remembered for two remarkable feats. The first, it was the largest year of democratic engagement in history; 74 national elections took place; nearly 2 billion people voted; and we saw 16 peaceful transfers of power. The second, 2024 was the first calendar year to exceed 1.5°C and capped off the warmest decade on record.

How are the new governments across the world facing up to the climate emergency?

In this CFG session we’ll be exploring how funders can prepare for COP30 in Belem, Brazil. Despite international setbacks, this still promises to be one of the most consequential climate events ever.

  • What is the role of funders in inter-governmental conferences?
  • What does good preparation look like?
  • How can we ensure that COP30 is not another success for the oil and gas lobby?
